Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi responded to PM Modi’s comment on Mangalsutra safety, saying her mother Sonia Gandhi “sacrificed Mangalsutra” for the nation. The controversy arose from PM Modi linking Congress’s wealth distribution pitch to Manmohan Singh’s 2006 statement on minorities’ resource rights. Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed that if the grand old party comes to power, it will conduct a wealth survey to seize the assets of people and take away their life-long savings.
